Default compatibility w/ ls7 clutch & flywheel

Ive got a Fidanza aluminum flywheel, but want to upgrade to the ls7 clutch package. Will this flywheel work?

And if not, should i go for the regular LS2 clutch? Or is there a lightweight version?

I should also add, it will be 550-600hp turbo charged here in the next couple months. Should i still do the LS7?

yea... if the motor is making 550h.p., then you're right at the ls7's limits. i would not expect it to last long at it's maximum advertised holding capacity.

also, i talked to jon @ Speedinc about using an ls1 style flywheel with an ls7 clutch, and he said it's mandatory to use an ls2/7 flywheel with the clutch.

the ls2 flywheel, and the ls7 flywheel, are the same flywheel/part number.

so if you are going to be at that power level, and want to use a fidanza alum flywheel, then just get a good aftermarket ls1 style clutch. i recomend the mcleod or the textrilia... those are two clutch manufacturers that seem to get it right every the time.

Yea, thats what i was afraid of. I heard they were able to handle up to around 500. Just saw a decent deal on the LS7, and people have said good things... so thought id atleast ask. Thanks!

yes.. very expensive.

i have had lots of good experience with the spec stg3 clutches. but you'll get mixed reviews on it.

that'll hold the power for 450 bucks. but you may have long term issues??? i think that's the most common complaint is how long they last.

but if you install it properly, and break it in properly... then it should last.

Id look into the Spec 3+, they can supposingly handle that power, and arnt too expensive. Again, you will hear mixed reviews on it, but find me one clutch ever made for an f-body that you havnt heard mixed reviews on. My buddy has had a 3+ for about 5,000 miles now, and has had no problems or slipping what-so-ever. His mods are similar to mine, but he runs a 125 shot.
