Shifting problems
I cant shift down into second gear most of the time, i know that my clutch is toast, but just wondering if it could be more, i bought a new clutch. But what do ya'll think?

It does, i dont think its the clutch, i am thinking that its the second gear syncro, becasue it wont let me shift down, i have to give it a little gas, or rev then pull it down into second, or shift into first then to second. It works fine going from first to second gear, its just going back down.

From my experiene dealing with these transmissions, I would say replace 1-2 sync 2-3 sync and 3 -4 sync along with carbon fiber blocker rings and if you have an 98- 00 a steel 3-4 fork. Also bronze fork pads on 1-4. No sense in having to replace 1-2 sync and having to pull the transmission later for another sync just do them all but if on a budget do 1-4 because most people dont powershift 5-6. But bronze fork pads are a definite because factory are paper, also a must is billet keys for 3-4 i think they are known to break.
Hope this helps
BTW t56 rebuilds will treat you good if you have to send it to them or do it yourself with their parts. They have excellent customer service.

I sort of just went through this, except my shifter would go from 4th to neutral and no place else, and also intermittnet popping out of 2nd gear. Tear down showed I needed a new 1-2 slider and reverse slider (teeth worn off but no apparent drivability problem). If sliders not available separately then I would have needed to buy the entire synchro.
I spoke with Amber at Six Speeds, Inc and she gave me this advise. The 1-2 and 3-4 bronze pads are recommended (5-6 and R can be noisy), get the 3-4 steel fork if you don't already have it, and get the carbon fiber blocker ring kit. If needed, get a replacement top hat (the piece the shifter sticks into on top) and bearings.
