Six Speed inc. 5A???
Six Speed inc. 5A??? I belive i blew my tranny, it broke a syncro a while back and i had been waiting to fix it. Well it had been getting stuck in 4th (wasnt using 3rd) well last night it got stuck in 4th again. This time however it refused to come out and after a while I finally got it out but the tranny feels like mush I got into 2nd and drove it home like that. But the tranny feels like it has too much pressure or something and it wont go into any gear now and the shifter will barley even move now. After reading around here a little bit I figured its probably blown so i started looking around. I found the 5A rebuild kit from Six Speeds inc (T56rebuilds) and was wondering if it was worth it?
Im am pretty stock but I plan on going bigger and bigger and dont want to have to mess with the tranny again so I figure why not do it right the first time.
So is it worth it?

Sure it is. Your gonna need to go thru it anyway, inpect it & make sure you dont need more like speed gears as well.
Just make sure you also take care of the hydraulics as well to protect that newly rebuilt trans. That is a real important aspect to wear & tear/shifting the T-56.

Yeah that kit is pretty much what you should need. Again make sure to replace ALL of the hydraulics even if they have low miles. You never want to put a new tranny in with an old master and slave. For what they cost it is cheap insurance to insure the trans lasts as long as possible.

Well I replaced the slave like a month or two ago. I will replace the master now I guess. Anything else? what do you mean by hydralics, like the hoses or what? please LMK as I am clueless when it comes to transmissions. Thanks-

Well I just warn to pay attention to pedal feel & the freeplay. If it feels mushy or freeplay increases & gets excessive, take care of the problem. The trans will pay for it if you ignore it.

Verdad Gallardo Alright so my clutch and slave are about 3k miles old, my tranny is getting a complete over haul. The only thing from the original that will be left is the gears and housing I guess. So I will just need a new master then right? It will come with everything else I need?
My clutch had excellent pedal feel, it was pretty heavy but nothing out of the ordinary for a Ram HD.
I'm alreading spending $1700+, whats another $200 right?

To protect that $1700 investment, the new master purchase makes perfect sense to me. If the slave is new your fine. A stock master from GM comes with everything, the reservoir,hose & the slave line.
