Default Transmission Fluid

What transmission fluid are you guys using in your stock M6 transmissions. Red Line or Royal Purple. Or any other suggestions. Also on your favorite what weights are you using?

Thanks

the stock stuff is really good, and I don't see a point of buying something else unless it is better, and you will find people have a love hate relationship with tranny fluids.

There have been multiple 100 page threads on this very topic. IF the search is working, use it. Otherwise, you CANNOT go wrong with mineral based Dexron 3. The only other higher cost fluids which most have claimed to cause NO problems what-so-ever are GM/Pennzoil Synchromesh and Mobil 1 ATF. I personally would not chance anything else (other than these 3 choices) in a stock T56, regardless of what anyone claims to the contrary.

I've used Torco ATF in mine for a while now...I'll use it again in the future as well. Just personal preference. Guess my transmission isn't stock anymore though

Pennzoil Syncromesh....same exact stuff as the GM Syncromesh. Pennzoil makes it for GM. And you can get it Autozone for roughly 50% of the dealer price.

I wanted to try the Torco as well, but when I spoke to the techs/chief tribologist there, they claimed it had a fairly high ester content in the base oil. This worried me with stock "paper" composite blocker rings, since esters are hygroscopic and that water absorbtion/retention could swell the cellulose blockers. This is one of the reasons why most say to stay clear of Red Line (D4 or otherwise) in T56es!

Meh...oh well. I've given up trying to understand the different chemistries of different oils...I'm getting to the point where I'm tired of worrying about that stuff. To me, life's just too short. Almost akin to debating the whole Dexcool issue. Maybe my car not being a daily driver anymore has changed my views on this stuff...

Honda Z1 ATF. I have run just about everything in my T56 and since I put the Z1 in, it shifts better than ever with 90k on the clock.
