Default LS7 Clutch/LS2 Flywheel Installed

I just had my LS7 clutch kit installed over a G-Force ( www.gforce-tx.com ). They did a great job and I really like the clutch so far. For the 1st 50 or so miles it was releasing right off the floor, which I was told is normal for this clutch. But now it is releasing just like a stock clutch. The pedal is ALOT lighter than my old Spec3 and there is ZERO chatter unlike my old Spec had for the 1st 1000 miles or so. Overall I am very happy with the clutch and would recomend it to anybody in the 300-525rwhp range. I will let you guys know how it does over the months and after I take it to the track. But as of right now I couldnt be happier. Thanks to ByunSpeed ( www.byunspeed.com ) for the great deal.

I had mine broke in within 15 minutes and it was releasing like normal

Off hand to put a Ls7 clutch ls2 flywheel into my 98 trans am i dont have to change my hydraulics or anythings else would I ? thanks and weres the cheepest place to get it from thanks

7. What’s the deal with 01-02 hydraulics? My 98-00 stuff seems to work fine.

If you are going to go through the trouble of dropping the transmission, you might as well change the master and slave cylinder while you are there. While your master & slave may be working okay now, it is a good idea to replace it with the 01-02 hydraulics anyway…because otherwise if your slave fails later on, you will need to take the transmission down again to get to it. The 01-02 has an improved design. Be advised that the line still requires the drill mod!

you will be wasting your time if you dont change that stuff while you are in there....one of those things might as well change it all now. mines is a 2000 and im changing all the hydraulics along with the clutch. that slave can come back and bite you in the azzor. just my .02

the ls7 clutch kit is the bomb i just had one put in my ss and i love it!Before i kept having problems with my clutch pedal sticking to the floor even after I did the DRILL MOD but the ls7 clutch seem to have also solved that problem too!

Just picked up my TA. New hydralics and ls7 clutch and drill mod performed. I only got to drive it a few miles back to work. The clutch is much easier to push (almost like there is no pressure). How firm is yours? I will post again after I drive the 30 miles back home from work.

how much power are these things good for ? my Centerforce dual friction is getting weak already and this was my intended next clutch but I am around 600 whp now and plan to get to 700 + or - whp. ~Guy

according to sprayed1998 it is only good for up mid 500 hp at the rear wheel.

I find that hard to swallow cause thats close to what the ZO6 puts down and I doubt they would put a weak clutch in the 500hp ZO6. but who knows. ~Guy

We have over 500 miles on ours now, and we love it! It feels light, grabs well, no chatter, and is more than strong enough for our application. We bought all new bolts, pilot, plate, disc, flywheel and slave for about $570 from SPDC (shipped). We installed ourselves, and have been VERY happy with it.

if you are doing the LS7 clutch/LS2 flywheel swap from a stock 01 M6 set up does a kit from SPDC come with everything you need? Can you re-use the old flywheel bolts or should you buy new? Also, all of the other stock parts are interchangeable with the LS2 flywheel? I guess my real question is what is different between the LS2 flywheel and the flywheel on my stockl 01 M6?

The kit comes with the flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch disk. You'll still need a pilot bearing (or bushing?), clutch install tool (3$ at autozone), and any bolts you'd want to replace.

I took the flywheel/pressure plate bolts out of my 60k SS and they were in really, really bad shape. I bought new sets from Summit for 54$ or so. Hardly alot of money for the peace of mind of not having something break. I don't know what you mean about the other stock parts.. the flywheel is a direct bolt on replacement, so you insall it like any other clutch.

I'm not really sure what the difference is, it looks slightly different in comparison to my LS1 one, but I do know its REQUIRED to put the LS7 in. I can take pictures if you'd like.

I'll be finding out next weekend, just ordered the LS7 kit and slave from SDPC and talked to one of the techs there that you don't really have to swap the master cylinder. Only if your going over the power for it. I'm at 330whp/340wtq and don't have to upgrade until I go beyond that point. All depends on what power range ya have and if your going to go way over what the stock master is capable of. Can't wait to try this thing out... But as for the difference in the LS2 flywheel, I think it's really just the bolt pattern of the pressure plate to the fly. I think that's the only thing, unfortunately don't know if it's just as heavy but i know that much about it other than that.

So the flywheel bolt set for the standard LS1 flywheel will work with the LS2 flywheel? Like these:

Yes, the bolt set is the same, since they're going into the same hole anyway. I was told by the SDPC peeps that you can only use the LS1 one, I can't remember if its a bearing or bushing.
