Default LS7 clutch on LS1 Z28 compatible?

Need some help. Search option is apparently down right now.

I need to replace my clutch and throwout bearing/slave cylinder. I was looking at scoggin dickey and an LS7 clutch kit is cheaper than an LS6 kit??

Is the LS7 clutch assembly compatible with an 02 Camaro Z28.

My camaro is only a bolt on car so a "stock" setup is fine.

Answers?

thanks

As long as you use and LS2 flywheel with it, than it fits fine.

Correct.

I bought this clutch/flywheel and installed it during my heads/cam swap.

I LOVE this clutch... it feels great, no chatter, better feel than even the stock clutch in my opinion... it does grab lower on the pedal... and I'm making much more power now and the clutch has no problem handling it.

I highly recommend this clutch over the aftermarket clutches...

ok, I found the link or page where Scoggin Dickey sells the LS7 clutch kit with the LS2 flywheel for a great price.

From what Im seeing, this kit is the hot ticket, has longevity, friendly driveability, and holds good power (505hp Z06).

Any suggestions on a reasonably priced, good (aftermarket) slave cylinder? Scoggin dickey again?

Got the slave from SDPC when I got the LS7 clutch from them and is fricking bad *** for the price. I'll be another one to say it feels like stock. In my opinion, I might think about swapping the Master out to if your going to be slapping a cam or power adder in the near future and get it over with now. With the mods you have now you'll be absolutely fine.

You can get everything from SDPC. The kit comes with only the disc, plate, and fly. Slave, flywheel bolts(a must), and pilot bearing are going to have to be added to it. But they will still be cheaper than any other kit on the market for the price.

I read in the GM high Tech May 07, they do the auto to m6. they use the SDPC slave and bolts.

I wonder if swapping out the hydraulics is necessary?

From what I have heard now, the slave, pilot bearing, LS2 bolts for flywheel, and the kit is all thats necessary.

I guess SDPC is really good.

with the above, I meant is it worth or necessary to swap out master cylinder or generally those are fine?

Change out to a new slave, you get a new throwout bearing with it anyways. Cheap insurance as opposed to pulling it again to replace the slave. The master is optional, but not the drill mod. Do that while the trans is out.

I have heard about the drill mod in the master cylinder line. supposed to get fluid to go back and forth faster during the heavy heat times.

My friend mentioned it. Guess thats the other thing.

A good clutch, perhaps install my 9 inch and enjoy 6000rpm clutch drops (a couple)

if you plan to do 6k rpm clutch drops more than a couple of times, I'd suggest making sure you have a good driveshaft and your torque arm relocated off the transmission. Those are the next weak points once the rear is factored out.

That and the 3-4 slider in the tranny will most likely go first if you beat it like that. It's happened to me twice, stupid 3-4 fork.

Yea, I shoulda mentioned I have cross member that relocates my adjustable spohn torque arm off the trans.

Just a just couple drops...if it ever comes to that. Trans by that time will inevitably need a good rebuild.

Anyone know how long that SDPC price will last for?

Rather than busting the tranny first, be proactive and get the six speed inc stage 1 kit at least... good for 700hp and 700ft/lb of torque... No use dropping all that coin and not taking that extra bit of care. Also of note a PST driveshaft is around $400.. you can risk it and break it and cause harm to yourself in the process... if you have the coin for a 9inch setup on the rear, the transmission upgrade and driveshaft is piece of mind.

SladeX you and I are on the same page. Got mine rebuilt last year, well worth it. The prices that everyone is quoting on here are about when I installed my LS7/slave/poly mounts all around/Six Speed Inc Stage 2+ last winter.
