I've always wondered how hard this would be.

As mentioned before, take lots of pics for us.

Excellent work so far!

GEtting there. I just got back from dinner. He's got everything done on the inside holding back the console and drivers seat until the trans is in.

The trans had the dowel pins on it "mushroomed", and wouldn't slide into the bellhousing . I fabbed some new ones up out of stainless and I'm going to help him re-install the trans now.

Props on painting the tunnel. I didn't think you would have taken Brien's request. Haha

Dinner at 10pm?!?! Man that's late. I'm normally in bed by now but just finished my system install.

I hope thats a new slave cylinder. I wouldn't have to yank the trans to replace that in the near future. Cheap insurance.

Regardless, this guy is making the install seem painless- wait- he didn't push the trans up while on his back yet(been there done that- never again)

Good luck!
Andy

Yes we did already bench press it. That's when the mushroomed dowel pin was discovered.

Sometimes things go smooth, sometimes parts want to kick and scream. Tonight is being the latter, as the trans is not wanting to go the last .5 inch. We're pulling it back apart to make sure the pilot is fully seated.

Well, I was going to ask if you were sure the clutch was aligned and then I read the rest of the thread and saw that you used an input shaft. Usually the clutch being off a CH causes that last little bit to be a pain.

Good luck and nice thread...

you also may be hitting the last little bit in which the slave is your obstacle. Did you crack the bleeder open a bit before going for that last push?

I've done literally hundreds of T56 clutches. Paul was having a hard time so I got under there to help him out. The trans was not going in. So we tore it back apart and I took some measurements.
This distance

Is .330 shorter than the distance from the trans case to the splined shoulder of the input shaft. Prognosis: Wrong pilot bearing.

Try again tomorrow.
