funny how you mentioned pilot bearing...

when I saw that on the first page, I thought that pilot bearing looked different than the one I installed in my car a year ago. I just thought GM may have updated the part.

You should keep note of all the part numbers too in this thread. This is turning out to be an awesome write up, can't wait to see it done!

I went with a pilot bushing as suggested by a couple people on here as well as 6speeds inc recomendation. When mine came out, it was trashed, just something to consider.

Wow, impressive thread, guys. Can't wait to see how it turns out for you.

And I, too, wondered why that pilot bearing looked different than the one I put in when I recently installed my Spec clutch.

You interested in selling the A4 conversion stuff when you're done? I'm in Lakeland.

Great thread. How much do want for that extra input shaft, if it's usable?

Yes the crap fairy does visit from time to time. I'm not scared though. I'll post up the good with the bad instead of pretending that everything always goes perfect.

Many aggrivating moments later.. here's what's left of the incorrect pilot bearing

In case you forgot, here's what it looked like only last night

Here's what the right pilot bearing looks like

Correct part number- 14061685
Wrong part number-12557583

7:00 PM Day 2
Here goes the clutch assembly again

And 30 seconds later, the trans. Much easier with the right pilot bearing

The A4 trans tunner is wider than in an M6 car, leaving more room to work around all the bolts.. it's nice.

You'ld need to reflash the PCM as a M6. He'd doing heads and a cam next week so he'll just drive with the SES light on until then, then get the whole tune worked at once.

Won't be long now. I am almost finished with my swap. I started Fri night. Even doing it alone its not that bad of a job. Now if I can just figure out how to reflash it, it'll be gear snatching time!

9:45PM Day 2
Here's the VSS wires. They needed to be lengthened by 10 inches.

All done underneath.

The inside is almost done. He cut his carpet a little too far and will probably replace it.
