Hurst Short Throw???
I did a search on the two ls1 boards and found these replies:

I would highly recomend the LSS with the factory Hurst. The install is a piece of cake and it really makes a difference in shifter feel and builds confidence in your shifting. I haven't missed a shift since I installed the LSS on my Hurst. Plus the price is right.

Check Lou's website....
He offers to let your return your LSS to him and get another LSS for a different shifter, for a VERY reduced price....
I have a LSS on my factory Hurst and it is great....
Shifts are VERY clean and precise....
I don't see how it could get any better....
I sould point out that my factory stock M6 trans and clutch/slave setup is in perfect working order....

I have the stock hurts and LSS and i love it, my shifts are a lot shorter than my friends with his Pro 5.0, but he doesnt have the short stick. I say save the money and just buy a LSS, you gonna love it.

i would venture to say that anyone bashing the stock hurst has not used it with a short stick....it is a WORLD of a difference.

stock hurts with lss is excellent. Pro 5.0 is very noisy. and you cannot put a lss on a ripper. both allow you to shift harder than the factory hurst w/o causing any damage. hope this helps...

I think for ~$50 a LSS is the most bang for your buck.
Pro 5.0 & LSS 17% shorter throws - NOISEY
www.afterthoughtsauto.com $215
B&M Ripper - 30% shorter throws - NOISEY
Stock Hurst w/ LSS - 20% shorter throws - QUIET
I think I'm going with the LSS only. If I do decide to go with another shifter in the future I can sell the one for the stock hurst back to Lou and get some credit for a new one.

i agree, hurst with lou's short stick, and could not be happier.

Lou's short stick eliminates the rubber bushing and it feels just as good as any aftermarket shifter.

I've got the Lou's short stick, and I really like it. Bolts right to the hurst unit.

Put a "Lou's Short Stick" on your Factory Hurst....
It's cheap enough and it only takes a few minutes....
It's a whole new world with the LSS....

LSS took 10 minutes!!!
Got it in right before lunch and was able to install it in the parking lot with the tools in my car..
by far the simplest install I've ever done. was right on 10minutes for total..
I love the way it shifts, it got rid of my 2-3 miss w/o needing the new shifter..

I know many like the 5.0 and Ripper but IMO, I think the factory Hurst WITH the short stick is just as good and much cheaper.

The JSS is much cheaper and just as good IMO. It is 1/2" taller than LSS so you can try it first and if you want it a tad shorter, just grind it. There's 2" of thread on the JSS so 1/2" won't hurt.
