A flexplate bolts to the back of the motor when using an automatic. It goes where the flywheel does in a manual set-up. The pressure plate is what presses the clutch disc to the flywheel. Hope this helps.

exactly what he said. when buying a clutch kit, it usually comes with the clutch pac, pressure plate and alignment tool. additionally you need a flywheel.

Flexplate for an auto car....

Flywheel for a manual car....

Pressure plate for a manual car.....

Auto car has a flexplate which the torque convertor bolts too.

Manual car has a flywheel which the pressure plate bolts to with the clutch disc in between.

So you will need

Clutch kit-Pressure plate, clutch disc, throwout bearing, and pilot bearing
Flywheel

If you have a used flywheel in good shape, meaning no heat created stress cracks, use it.

its also good to get the flywheel resurfaced before you install it.
