Although it can be cut down, the result will leave the pilot journal with no heat treat. The best way to accomplish this is to machine the pilot undersized and press on a hardened sleeve that is , then, finished to the correct size. This yeilds the hardened surface the pilot bearing needs to ride on.

Thanks man I could probably re heat treat it after i got it cut to size. I wanted to know With the bell housing on. If you take a striaght edge and put it across the bell houseing where it mates to the engine. and then measure to where the slave cylinder bolts, and to the end of the splines on the input shaft closest to the tranny end, and to the end of the splines where it steps down to the pilot shaft and the to the end of the very end of the shaft. lot of work but would be very greatful. thank you

The dimension you need is 10.62" overall length. After cutting your overall, machine your pilot .590 by 1.06 long with a 30deg by .120 champher. Undercut a .18 radius on the pilot dia to spline face. Then put a .120 by 45 deg champher on the leading edge of the splines.

Just as added info:

LS1 T56 input shaft = 10.62 O/A length

LT1 T56 input shaft = 9.31 O/A length

Retrofit T56 input shaft = 11.06 O/A length
