spec 3 still chatters sometimes

Default spec 3 still chatters sometimes

is got about 4,000 miles on it. 50 percent of the time ill be sitting at a light, then when i take off slow, its chatters(the whole car shakes). so, is there any remody?

My spec 3 is going in the trash this weekend and getting replaced with an LS7 clutch kit... its toast after 10K miles. Pretty sure the aluminum flyhweel didn't hlep things though.

edit: And yes mine has done it for the entire time it's been in the car.

Guys...if I have said it once I have said it a thousand times. If you buy a clutch with a pucked disc then you will experience chatter. This is, as they say, the nature of the beast. It isn't any indication of an issue and should be considered normal. Sometimes a person's driving style will make this issue more evident than others. To help reduce it as much as possible you should get off the pedal more quickly. If you drag the pedal it will inherently lead to a greater tendency for chatter. Also remember...the slippage of any clutch will lead to faster wear.

In an attempt to smooth out engagement people will try to be as slow as possible in coming off of the pedal. This actually worsens the situation and causes increased wear. I hope this info helps. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!

mine chattered for all 30k+ miles and still is in good shape awaitng a transplant into my buddys 67gto ls1/t56 swap

loved that clutch

thats very odd. I knew a guy that had that exact combo in SoCal, maybe it was a 66 goat though....
