Default shifting above 6600rpm?

My stock T56 will not shift above 6600 very well if at all, is there a synchro mod or custom part that will fix this?
TIA

I shift right about there. There are a few things you can do. The main thing that helped for me was the mcleod m/c with the drill mod. At that point I could hit shifts at 6600, but it wasn't smooth. I switched from redline atf to some generic dexron 3 fluid and it was 1110% better. It's still not as smooth as I'd like but I hit shifts just fine.

Thanks Joe, i run GM Dexron 3 not any synthetic slippery stuff. You are shifting same as me, but im looking to rev higher especially after i increase cam size on my daily driver. 7000 is going to be target rpm, but it wont shift there now, i do have drill mod presently.

Wow they are high shift RPM's, never tried shifting over 5500 yet, as the engine is 96K old not sure of the service history I suppose I have been playing it safe. What is the rev limiter usually set at on a 2000 Trans-Am WS6?

Higher temperature clutch fluid might help if the clutch is draggin.

I shift at 6900 and I haven't had a problem and I have been doing it for 2 years now. I have a Mcleod master but it isn't drilled out and I haven't changed any fluid. You shouldn't need to change anything to be able to shift that high.

The key is having properly working hydrualics. I was shifting my last solid roller at 7300+ a few times and everything went fine. I would recommend an adjustable m/c with ANY clutch you install. The '02 m/c works well with some clutches, but the Mcleod is the better piece in my opinion.

I used the Mcleod adj. m/c with no drill out mod and the Rev-lok II clutch setup.

Thanks Jason, would you say you lengthened rod over stock rod's length with adj. master? Is that the stock setup's problem? I have 2001 car, isnt that same as 2002 ZO6 setup?

Default Re: shifting above 6600rpm?

my car has a really hard time shifting past 6000 RPM also.....

I have a Spec stage 3 clutch, 01 (stock) slave, and have done the drill mod...

I run high temp (motol) fluid in the hydrolic system and have the GM Dexron 3 (which helped some).....

would the Mcleod adj. m/c help the trans shift better and how?
