Default clutch from the experts!

okay guys, i have searched and find way to much people making less power claiming their clutches are the ****. i just want to know what the best clutch out there is for power. i checked the fastest 6 speed list but dont understand what kits they have as for disc material sense there are so many options.

i have 608 and 634 to the ground know and have a solid roller high lift, big duration, high compression 6.6 on a 250 shot being built for when the ls1 pops.

i have a built race car that is driven maybe 5 miles a month on the street and then race alot, dont care about drivability, just getting my power to the ground.

the chassi and drivetrain can handle whatever i through at it so the clutch is the last component.

if you pick a clutch please tell me why and what your experience with the clutch is like and what power you make, please none of the well my friend has a XXXX and loves it and he runs 8's and drives on the street everyday with it.

also, how is the spec stage 5 because i had a really bad experience with the ols stage 3 sense spec sent me two spacers and two different clutches trying to get it to work and finally said they did not know and sent me my money back because the clutch would not work. i have had good results with my ram powergrip HD but is spun three times on the dyno with the nitrous.

The only option that is PROVEN for over 1khp out of your choices is a custom clutch from Mcleod. That is only true when speaking of completely unstreetable track only setups. All of the rest are either hit or miss, or there isn't yet enough track time on them. Most of the specific clutches you listed are not going to hold up to 600+a 250 shot. I personally use a TEX single disc, but I am UNDER 600rwhp. The almost all positive reviews of the single are mirrored by the almost all negative reviews of the dual disc. I suppose what I am saying is that you will be the new guinea pig for whatever you decide on.

all of the 1000+ rwhp and hp cars, I know are using twin disk mcleods.

any powerhouse car should have a twin disk.. (hence the reason the new zr1 has a twin disk)

currently my car is at 440rwph and I switched to the mcleod twin disk after trying other single disk clutches and not being happy with them. The mcleod twin feels the best and works great.

Call Mcleod, speak to Lee and explain your setup. They will hook you up!!

For your power, I'm sure they will recommend a kevlar, ceramic friction plates. The ceramic cools faster and is better for hot lapping at the track

well, here is my .02. up to 800 rwhp the street twin. over that i recommend the mcleod soft lok. as mentioned above give lee a call or even billy, either one can get you going in the right direction.

regardless mcleod is the way to go. my car's e.t. speaks for itself, and yes i have run a street twin since day 1.

For this particular car I suggest the Mcleod Street Twin. 64048B-00-07. This unit is good for a proven 1200hp.

For this application I suggest the Mcleod Soft-Lok. I guarentee when correctly setup for your application you will drop your 60ft times by at least .3 minimum.

I am running a Mcleod St Twin for the LT-1 pull style engagement and love it. Takes all the abuse and begs for more.
