Default Preparing to install clutch, threadlocker needed?

Hey guys,

Been away for a while and the car has been sitting all apart. I was about to install the flywheel and realized I only have threadlocker blue. Does it really need red threadlocker? I figured blue would be ok since there was none on the threads from the factory. Oh and I tried searching and my computer sucks. Im on dial up and nothing seems to be working right.

Thanks,
Erik

oh and also is the flywheel holding tool that important for torquing the bolts?

Red for the flywheel bolts, blue for the pressure plate bolts, blue for slave bolts (it's inch pounds for those tiny bolts) everything else not really save for piece of mind if you want.

thanks for the reply. Well who knows when Ill start again. One of my brand spankin new flywheel bolts broke off in the crank. Not only that, I didnt cap the red loctite and lost it all on the floor when I leaned on it. So I did get the broke bolt out (is that progress?) And I guess Ill re-use my old flywheel bolts. Or just by new ones... and some more loctite. All I wanted to accomplish tonight was getting the flywheel on. Damn

that sucks man. I know all about those broken bolts but mine is a headbolt in the head lol. And no the flywheel holding tool isn't that important, just kinda nice so you don't have to hold a prybar or wedge a screwdriver. I know there's not many home mechanics that use the thing, I sure don't. But getting that broken bolt out by yourself is definately progress. There's nothing I hate worse then breaking a bolt!

You could. but honestly you would be better off buying your self a nice 3 piece prybar set from craftsman (40 bucks), Have a friend hold the long prybar in the flywheel (top left side) while you torque the bolts.. This will hold the flywheel easily to get 74lbs
