Might be time to relocate. I know alot of body shops are packed up here by me due to the recent snow storms. They love the people who cannot drive.....

I can't relocate, have a family here. i would think the body shops around here would have plenty of work, we have had snow and ice here also. but i call every week, no openings anywhere. i have heard a lot of people who are having minor accidents are just pocketing their insurance money and not getting their cars fixed.

Going in in person works a lot better then calling.

Not much work down here in Indy.

Maybe check out the body repair school and see if they are looking for instructors?

TRUE.
When I managed shops, I didn't talk to anyone that didn't walk through the door. Worth a shot, good luck man!

Dress nice, take your NICE resume to every shop and once a week or so drop by and ask or ask them how offten you can come by.

They wil remember your face and will know that you need the work and wand the job, not some kid just looking to earn a few bucks.

I knew a guy that called GE once every few weeks to the same person for almost a year.... one day he got a call and they wanted to interview him for a GOOD paying job.... he did and got the job.

Get straight to the point and leave.

Thanks for the advice guys. Just have to be persistant with it, can't give up. Hopefully this economy turns around soon, but i have a feeling its gonna get a little worse before it gets any better. I would like to move, but girlfriend and her kid are not down for that.

YOu moving wouldn't do you a whole lot of good anyway i dont think.... its hard to find a job ANYWHERE right now.

It sucks and i refuse to work for fast food to collect a paycheck smaller than i can recieve for unemployment! Im not afraid to work at all; but i refuse to work and make less. lol

Good luck man! Just keep at it and dont give up!

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best!

Its getting pretty popular and you kind find quick cash gigs all the time... like someone who is paying $50 to help move furniture for an hour or two... all sorts of easy money gigs.

The economy sucks really bad man. I am in the automotive industry as well and It seems to be getting more scarce by the month! If I hear anything opening up for a position, I'll contact you.

James

I have had my resume in at most of them, but its probably about time to give them a visit and check up on my resume. Hopefully they might have something.
