A Hampshire man died after his car struck a utility pole on Big Timber Road in Hampshire Township on Wednesday evening, according to police.
Charles Harris, 49, of 15N568 Red Leaf Road, Hampshire, was driving north on Big Timber Road when he lost control of his car and struck a utility pole near Damisch Road at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, said the Kane County Sheriff's Department.
Harris was ejected from the 2002 Chevrolet Camaro, and was transported with life-threatening injuries to Provena Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin, where police said he later was pronounced dead.
Harris was the vehicle's sole occupant, according to police.
Speed appears to have been a factor in the accident, according to police. However, it is not yet known if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, police said

Best of wishes and luck to his family. My heart cries out as I too have lost loved ones recently and even some due to car wrecks....
Time will mend their hearts, but the memories will always be there.
