?'s for Chicago people
Hey guys,
I have always heard that St. Patty's Day in Chicago is one of the best in the country, so my buddy and I have decided to take the plunge and go. We won't be there the day of, but we'll be there the 12th and 13th (Friday and Saturday before St. Pattys.)
We've already booked our hotel, the Intercontinental on North Michigan. Now, where should we head out towards? We wanna watch the river get dyed, and then plan to party pretty hard. Where are the best places to buy green beer and do irish car bombs?
As an aside, how much should we expect to pay for a mug of the ol' green ale? 4-5 bucks a pop?
Thanks in advance my LS1 brethren.

Any bar in the city will typically be packed. Last year I went to Joes on weed st. They were doing $2 pitchers of green coors light (meh). But was a really good time and super packed. I was lucky and got a full 4 booth section on the 2nd floor for everyone. A few of my friends didn't even show up since the line was 2 blocks long by 9pm.

South Side Irish Parade was pretty cool, folks came from all over Chicagoland to see that. My sister lives right off Western and 111th, quite the drunk fest.
Younger folks in my office are all saying hit the popular Irish bars but get there early...

I vote NO for SSI parade in EP....
Funny thing is I cant stand the parade since all it is is cleanin up for drunks! Last year 111th & 115th & 119th looked like $HIT!!! Just garbage everywhere and drunks puking on themselves. Alot of us were very happy when they cancelled the parade but that just us.
So stay up at the Northsie bars and enjoy.

I'm glad I got to experence the SSIP, it was definitely one of a kind type thing. I'll miss it, but I don't know if I would have gone again. Joe's on Weed Street will be good. I went to Emits once for Patty's day, but that's kind of small.

2nd Biggest Parade in the state is in Elmhurst since the south side got shut down. We got a good number of bars too. Cops are strict here though they let people drink around the parade but if they see your wasted they will kick you out or arrest you.

So they're not letting the Irish Irish things up?
