Default New to Minneapolis, MN area...

Hi all. I recently found out my company will be moving me to Minneapolis, MN from June 2010 to June 2011 from Peoria, IL. I am hoping to get some insight as to what all there is to do, what areas of town are nice and which ones to avoid, etc. Since I'll only be around for a year, I will be renting an appartment, so not too concerned with property values/taxes or schools.

I've got a 660 Raptor and 700XC sled that I ride whenever I can, and am also wondering if there is enough places in the area to ride for me to mess with bringing them up with me. I'll be working at the Cat Paving facility, so any leads on apartments in that area would be great as well.

Also, is there a local car/motorsports forum for the Twin City area? Here in Peoria we have a local forum that is great for organizing meet and greets, cruises, etc.

Thanks for the help!

Kyle

Kyle
Is that the one in Brooklyn Park.
If so I would go a little north up around Ramsey area. From there you can pretty much snowmobile from where your living.
Here is also a link to the local GM forum

If you need more info about the area, let me know

Yep, the plant is in Brooklyn Park. I have some relatives that live about 20 min away, so they've been making sugestions on where to look for apartments, and they've mostly been north about 5-10 miles.

Thanks for the responses and suggesting the MNGMP forum... i just registered.

Yeah, I would avoid living in Brooklyn Park at all costs. High crime rate and mostly low income housing. Maple Grove isn't too far and is nice.

MNGMP and TCStangs are the big forums up here. Roseville and any place north will be a better place to stay. Don't forget to introduce yourself in the newbie section of MNGMP so we know who you are.
