Unless there's a big difference between MO and IL, a speeding ticket for 18 over isn't a big deal. Lawyers around here would charge $100-150 and fees would probably be another $100ish to get it reduced. Sadly speaking from experience...but any traffic lawyer will be fine, even one of those traffic law centers could take care of it.

i just went through all of this recently (ironically in both MO and IL)
The best words of advice i can offer is just to go and plead guilty and take the defensive driver course and supervision. You'll spend $300-500 in a lawyer and you WILL NOT be able to reduce it to a non-moving violation. Laywers will simply either reduce your supervision time (anywhere from 12,6, or even 3 months) or get you a reduced speed. At the end of the day you were speeding, regardless if it was more or less than what the cop wrote down.
Take the $120 ticket and the driving school. Going to court will end up costing you $300-500 and the results will be almost the same.
Unless its a BIG speeding ticket (20+ over, which i just dealt with in MO) Then you'll want to get an attorney.

where you located at? I have had to deal with this before except mine was a little excessive........ 101 in a 55....... and i was more or less trying to keep my license and out of jail lol, but i ended up doing pretty well had to take the driving course and was on supervision for a year but not to bad considering the circumstances. but i used beckett and webber out of urbana, pricey but well worth it in my case lol
