Default 95 LT1 emissions

my buddy, 95_Firehawk_dude has his 95 hawk. He wants to put on full exhaust, IE LT's with a catted Y but is affraid of not passing emissions here in IL, Tinley park, Cook County. How many of you guys with LT1's have full exhaust and pass emissions. If so what is your setup? Thanks alot
Jon

It depends on how particular they are with the visual inspection. The law states(in GA anyways) in one form or another that the cat. converter muct be untampered with and in the stock location. It should pass the sniffer portion if the car runs good and the cats are good but its the visual inspection that I would worry about.

hey whats up, as long as it has a c.a.r.b(california air resources board) number it should be fine, ...you need a cat and the pipe has to go all the way to the rear of the vehicle

So with Longtubes, catted y, and a cat-back, it should pass with no SES's or pissing off the sniffer? Of course a good tune along with all of this...
Jon

Thanks alot guys!

ellokote5 - Do longtubes even have a c.a.r.b number?

Also has anyone ever filed their car as a "show car" to become excempt from emissions?

yes they should have a C.A.R.B EO#, 50 state legal....some states require that if you modify the exhaust you should have a little card for every mod so if you get pulled over and the cop asks if your legal you should have a card for it all....luckily not Illinois

See, everyone esle I talk to says I won't pass with longtubes and its not becuase of the visual inspection. They say longtubes will not pass the sniffer test. And I have not checked (I will though) but I doubt a company like Kooks, Hooker will have a c.a.r.b card for their longtube headers for the LT1.
