Default Hooters tonight???

Hey guys I know the weather most likely wont be the best tonight but I won't be able to make the meet tomorrow at 4 corners. I will be in Westmont for band practice tonight. If anyone wants to meet up at the Downers Grove Hooters about 9:15-9:30 for a couple of beers let me know and I will stop up there....I drove the Z today because I am still trying to see how the car is reacting to the tuning that Marcin did.

I will be leaving work at 6pm and will not be checking the board after that so if anyone decides to go and no one else posted call me on my cell
708-372-8262 and I will meet you up there...otherwise I will go home.

Brian

He thinks he needs to mill the head. I say put it back together ASAP. Wait too long and you will.

Well,
Valve is definately bent. Piston has some scoring and is making me a little worried.

Do you have anything to check the valve guide diameter? I think this is your only worry. How deep is the scoring?

I am giving the head to my buddy. He owns a cylinder head shop and he is going to check it out and make any necessary repairs. Hopefully I can get it to him by tomorrow or Friday. About a 1/16 of an inch in the center.

Hmmm...Well now one of your pistons is fly cut. LOL. I know, not funny. Well if you mill it, get a thinker gasket to compensate. You do not want to mill one head.

The cam was fine.
On the intake valve of cylinder #4 the valve stem keeprs melted to the retainer..and when that happened the valve slipped down and hit the piston.

correct, i lost a couple keepers so I took them off of a 67 SBC...I lapped the valves and there was no issue...it lasted for about a week and a half before they melted to the retainer.

I went and bout new keepers so this will not happen again.
