Default Trans Am Nationals Aug. 26-28

The Trans Am Nationals are coming up soon and I was wondering if anyone from the IN, Nothern IL area was planning on attending. I'd like to set up a cruise similar to the one I did with the Firehawk guys to Norwal for the Pontiac Nationals. If you plan on attending post and we'll try to set up meeting spots for on the way there. The event is a great weekend for the family with drag racing, car show, swap meet, and a very nice cruise in. The event is located at the Dayton Airport Hotel in Dayton, OH. You can find more information athttp://www.firebirdtaclub.com/tanat.htm

I'm hoping to leave early-mid Friday but it's not definate. I'll know later this week and will post it. I'm not driving the TTA I'll be trailering it do to putting too many miles on it lately, and it's not the most comfrotable vehicle in the world either. We may be driving my brother H/C 98 TA though if he has everything sorted out by then.

Gen 3 bu - I talked with the guy doing the chassis dyno at the Pontiac Nationals this year. I mentioned the TA Nats to him and he said he was going to check into it and might show up. Downside of their dyno is it's a Mustang, upside is you get to drive your car on it if you want to and the guys are cool as hell. For the past few years there hasn't been one because the last time someone brought one they said they didn't make enough money to fund the trip. The guy I talked to said if he just got his money back out of it (gas and hotel) he'd show up. Prices were reasonable but I don't remember exactley what they were.

If I remember correctly, only two or three cars did the dyno the last time it was there. I think they were charging $75.00 for two pulls.

The last time they were there they had a lot of business. It was my first time going to the TA Natsand my brother dynoed his car. They gave 3 runs and it was a Dynojet. Over the weekend they had atleast 20 cars dyno. That's more than how many dynoed at the Pontiac Nationals this year.

That's right....I'm thinking of the first year I went in 2001. It was off-and-on rain all weekend, and that was when only three cars did it.

I'll be taking my car. I'm supposed to work Fri night, but I'm gonna see what I can do about getting it off. I'm down for cruising around if I don't get there too late.

there was someone there with a dyno last year (ls1source?) it was $50 for 3 pulls. my brother and i both did it. then the c6 came over and it started raining.at least 3 cars did last year, there was one on there and we ran to get my truck.

if they show we will both do it again this year - more mods and better tuning.

well looks like it iwll be raining on Friday night and Saturday most people just go to the cruise in (it's the most fun part of the event I think). Here's a link on ls2 of people meeting up http://www.ls2.com/forums/showthread...hreadid=267164

A lot of people just hang out at the hotel bar on Friday night, or in the parking lot of the hotel. Not too far away on 75 is a Hooters. I've seen guys there on Friday night when I've been there. I usually just go back to my room and crash unless I meet up and make plans with some folks early in the day.

Saturday night's hangout is the Tipp City Cruise-In. It seems to always rain on us there, but it's a lot of fun. The "my car can't get rained on people" won't go, so the rest of us have more room.

I'm staying up the road from Tipp City in Troy, so it's a nice little drive to and from everything. Time to put a little heat in the engine
