Default Help! Need a Job (IL) SW Burbs

I'm from Palos Hills, I am 16 and am beginning to loose all the money i had to pay for all my crap and now w/ these gas prices its dropping FAST! I've resulted to even driving my moms and g/f's cars (Cavalier and Sunfire) atleast 4 days of the week and those other 3 days is to shows/cruises and back. That is it! I need a job, anybody got any type of hook ups for me or good ideas. I've applied jstu about everywhere and have had follow ups on each atleast once within 1.5 months of the application date (60 days) and no such luck. Offered an interview at sears, and the lady wasn't there to interview me, and her secretary couldnt reschedule, and i went through the process again and no such luck this time

Please help, i don't want to lose this car, and I do want to modify it. I have enough for insurance and Gas once a month typically. I'm saving for mods and such but i do not believe i can save w/o needing to use much longer.

Anybody? Any help, Ideas, offers, etc would be great

Thanks

Adam R.

BTW for those who don't know I am 16. I have been offered a job at pep boys but they said to come back when I'm 17 and they'll guarantee me a job on the floor/behind the counter etc. (almost 11 MONTHS!!!)

step one, stop modding!!!

step two, i know it sucks, but go to the mall and start applying at places, at 16 your best bet would be retail..

good luck!

At 16 your options are limited. Most places do not want to be responsible for a minor. Not a maturity thing, just an insurance thing. Try restaurants. You can make good money waiting on tables. Try local car washes.

I manage a Panera Bread in Kenosha, WI. If you were closer I'd hire you so we could get more FBodies in.

If I was anywhere near you and 16 again I would be all over that like white on rice. Such great discount as an employee at a Panera Bread, and the food is soooo damn good.

When I was 16 I worked at Jewel. Yeah the pay sucked and the work schedule was not the greatest, but it was decent for a first job and only had to last me till I hit 17. Then at 17 I went to work for UPS. I was at the Northbrook hub. That was some physically hard work, but the pay was great for a 17 y/o in HS. That was in the mid-'90s, pay started at $8.50/hr and I was up to $9.50 after maybe 6 months. I'd work about 5 hours a night M-F, sometimes as many as 7 hours, and anything after 5 hours in a day was overtime. Not sure if they still hire at 17 or not, but you need to be able to handle a large amount of physical punishment to last at that job. I stayed at Jewel on the weekends for extra cash. Sure, I ended up working through a lot of my free time, but I always had money to do stuff and buy cars. Even in HS I was able to afford to have a fun/hobby car plus a daily driver.

Yupp they still hire @ 17 found that out the hard way, filled out the entire application then that ? showed up near the very end !

I really don't want to pay the union dues @ jewel because to work Part Time and pay union dues is pretty bogus. I have applied there however

Look at smaller places especially small local restuarants non franchise type of stuff, those places will usually hire just about anybody

Warehouses like UPS FedEx and other shipping companies. Schaaf, Menards, Home Depot, anything where they actually have yards, or warehouse. Pretty strict lots of lifting etc.
