Default For all those concerned I was going to spend the night in New Lenox....

3:20
Leave for Straightline
7:00
Leave Straightline, get 1 block, alternator is dead and lights are dimming. Turn around, head back to shop. Mike (tuner) sticks around and drives me to a few different parts stores, none of which have an alternator.
7:20
Decide to leave and get as far as I can.
7:45
Made it to Wolf and 167th before the lights went off, pulled onto a sidestreet called Orange St. and parked under a streetlight. Jacked the car up and called my dad, and he went to pick up an alternator for me and drive back out to Orland Park so I could throw it on and get home.
8:15
Took most of the alternator off in the dark, guy who's house I'm parked in front of comes out and gives me a flashlight. Turns out, he used to own a 68 SS.
8:20
Alternator completely off.
9:25
Dad arrives with new alternator. Start to install.
9:40
Alternator on, car fires right up.
10:30
Arrive at Dominicks, buy some english muffins, pizza sauce and cheese for pizzas.
10:45
Arrive at home, happy the car pulled good.

Too bad my car was all the way down in Kankakee or I would have gave you mine for the time being. You need to get that issue figured out soon or your mod money is gonna go towards alternators

Thanks man, I appreciate that. I'll have to get a new GM unit and see if that solves the problem. Until then, I'm blowing these up for free.

I would have let you crash at my place as well. I have the townhome to myself and a lot of alcohol.

Mike also called me asking if I had or knew of anyone who had an extra.

For some reason I knew he was talking about your car.

Yeah, paying for a tow is no bueno.

I'm at the conclusion my car doesn't like crappy alternators... Or is it the other way around?

Chris-

Spend an extra 2 cents and buy a GM one, not some reconditioned autozone p.o.s.

That's what I would have done six months ago, but that's just me

I don't mind changing them, especially if they are giving them to me for free. I've gone through $1500 in alternators, $1350 of that were free. And I'll get a full refund after I blow this one.

It's when I start racing that I'll need to ditch the crappy ones.

I definately forgot about the alternator problem until after you called me back and were like IT DIED.
