Speed Inc Open House '06
This event has become pretty famous in this area of the country. Last year we had people come from as far away as Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Kansas, and Ohio.
Let me give you an idea of what we are about and what this event is about. Tom Izzo, President of Speed Inc, started working on LS1 based cars out of his garage and selling performance parts via mail order back in 1999. Shortly there after opened a shop in Schaumburg. Tom grew out of this one bay shop almost immediately and moved down the street to a location with 2 bays and 1 dyno. This location suffered the same fate as the one before it. In 2002 Speed Inc moved a few blocks down the road to a 7,500 sq ft unit. Now having 5 lifts and 1 dyno this facility has been our home for the past 4 years. When we first moved here we had a open house to celebrate and show off the new shop. We have always been surprised with the turn out. Each year growing larger and larger. Last year there was still snow on the ground yet we had out best turn out yet.
We are unable to do any work on cars on this day or use the dyno. What we do is clean up our personal rides and put them all in the shop. We usually either have a band or a DJ. As well as pizza, burgers, and pop. We offer specials on parts and labor - usually the front area is so packed its hard to walk around. The streets are lined with cars and its a great time for everyone. We do not have any official burn out contest or anything like that - we discourage reckless driving with so many people around. However many of our local patrons seem to have made it a tradition. Schaumburg’s finest usually let it go on as long as everyone stays safe.
To get an idea of what its like check out the pic's from last year.

I've gone the last couple of years and its been a great time.
You will go through tires and brakepads fast(if you dont have a line lock) but its worth it.
Hopefully this year it wont be cold and overcast out..

HAHAHA, i remember that. I remember sitting outside leaning up against the wall right between that door and the garage watching a movie on my computer while they did a converter swap in my old '98 Z28. GOOD TIMES! PSJ showed up to get some TR6's. Back in the old 422 motor days i think it was, haha.

I go every year. Hope to bring the car this year. With the later date than usual I have a chance. I always have a great time. I show up by usually 10a.m. and don't get to the food till it is gone due to the drooling over hot cars and watching the action outside.
