Notice the frenzied bidding miraculously stopped just short of the reserve? Is called having your buddies bid on an item to drive up the price. That thing was at $3x,xxx before it was even findable on Ebay (for the first 3-4 hours, an item is only findable through a direct link, meaning no one could search for "68 Firebird" or "pinks" for a few hours after it was listed and find it) yet within an hour or two of being listed, it had 30-something bids on it.

It is a nice car, don't see it going for $42k though, I said it a month ago and I still will be shocked if that car sells for $42k. If they really want to keep the car, all they have to do is have a(nother) buddy buy it for whatever it takes, pay Ebay their fees (1% IIRC) and live happily ever after.

I asked if if I got the car if I could have a date with Rich. He said he is gonna ask him for me. That will determine if I up my bid.

I completely agree. however there might be a couple of buyers that are not friends just waiting for the last minutes of the reserve before they place their bids.

Its sad how ebay is almost strategic now!

I think that pinks show that time was just a advertizement for the sale of the 68 Firebird.

Just curious, on the ebay page, it says race weight of 3,180 without driver. Yet it has full stock interior, all steel body, all glass, and even all electrical componants in working condition. So basically, it's a stock car, with things like a cage and subframe connectors...yet it weighs almost 300 lbs less than my 80 TA? And still around 250 lbs less than the 4th gens? I'm I the only one confused here?

With a reserve that high, it is unlikely that the car will sell.
So, what happens if noone buys the car? Will the owner keep it??
That's what I would have done in a situation like this: Set the reserve price unreasonably high and keep the car.
Nice looking bird for sure!

That's what I was wondering too? It either sells or doesn't sell.

bidding went to 41,900 and the auction ended. I think people jsut wanted to bid since everyone knew the reserve. so now what does he get to keep the car?

I just want to know if he is going to give the car back to his brother or if he is going to keep it.

Here is one of the threads where he said he gave the car back to his brother. There is another thread on here somewhere where he says the same thing.
