Hey SDB, what converter's in my car? 3800SS? You had the 3600 restalled or a totally new (different series)? I can't do anything until contract(s) are resolved, but I'll need to know what I've got as a starting point. What do you think: restall what I've got or go Vigilante? I need at least 500 more rpm of brake stall to get to 3000. That's what you had with the PT4000, right?
I'd go Vigilante, we've had much better results with Vigilante converters. Bob

Scott, make sure to call and talk to Vicky about the converter selection, and tell them how it worked GREAT on motor on a PT4000, but on nitrous it blew through, and trying a 3600 and 3800 seemed really sluggish on motor and nitrous. i know they make a 3-disc, but check to see if they make a 5-disc in the Vigilante line. Sell your Yank for $300-400, at least that will take care of all the labor, fluid, filter, etc.

I've exchanged emails with PI. They told me the triple disc is good to 1600 hp, so I'm safe for now. LOL. In fact, I think the 5 disc is non-lockup. I just want it to brake stall to whatever you got it to stall with the PT4000. That was 3000, right? My only concern is what stall speed to order. I read that Vig's stall higher than advertised, but I'm leery of a 3600 converter, given your poor experience with that stall in the Yank. I'm waiting on a reply from Vig as to what stall to order to get 3000 brake stall.

I'm also waiting on a reply email from Chad @ Greenlight. My converter won't lockup for some reason. I posted in the Automatic section and got replies saying to scan for misfires, as that is the most likely cause. What's that mean, exactly? Incomplete ignition? Faulty plugs, wires, coils?

Scott,

The misfire detection causing the converter to not lockup is pretty common, but not necessarily an engine problem. With the big cam that motor has, misfires are expected, it's more an issue of the threshold for them needing to be raised to make the engine less "picky" about their detection and what it does with them. The factory defaults are way to touchy on the misfires and their relation to lockup. A failing knock sensor can cause it, also. I know the stock ones that came with my '98 freaked out often, even with my small cam. I had to tune out a pretty fair amount of misfire to resolve it, even though the engine isn't actually misfiring.

could be knock sensor, check with chad on tuning....like solos said, the big cam can cause knock sensor to pick up false positives, can be tuned to be less sensitive if need be.
