Just talked to RPM. They're in the process of removing the trans for inspection. They drove it today and are 99% sure the clutch in the converter is toast. I'm not surprised, because it seemed to loosen up the more I drove it. The engine rpm would go up almost 700, just going up a slight hill while driving it down there. Yank sucks. Officially. They're going to call me tomorrow, once the trans is checked out and go over what converter they and PI recommend. Julie didn't bitch once yesterday when she followed me down there. But, I'll probably get an earful when I drop the bill for this woopsie.

It would figure. I am back in town for 1 week, and the 1 weekend I have to hang out, a lot of you will be gone at the nationals, and it wouldn't matter since the weather is junk.
BTW, JPH, Bill did a good job on the fix for my Z. Thanks for the reference.
Also, anyone know if Ponyhntr has dyno'd his car yet???

They told me they wouldn't even charge me to disassemble and inspect the trans, unless they found something broken. That was a nice surprise. Hopefully, they won't have any trouble getting the converter, so I can get the car back next Friday.
Since I don't have a laptop, what should I do about the breakin period. Will they do some breakin stuff? Will driving it home locked up (for an hour) cause any unnecessary wear?

I've got a laptop with HP Tuners that can control lock/unlock manually (I can control any year, but tune only '98 year cars). You can force gear or lock/unlock on the fly with it pretty easily.
You can borrow it to use for the drive home if you'd like.
