Default The Turbo project has begun....

Well as many of you may know i have a 87 trans am that i had swapped in a ls1 and it was a cam only car for quite a while. I then decided to put nitrous on it, well after only running 1 bottle through it i got a great deal on a brand new GTk1000 turbonetics ball bearing 76mm turbo good for 1000+rwhp. I picked it up for $1100 and new the cheapest i have seen it is $1995 from forced inductions. I picked it up and was probably just going to resell it.

Well i started researching turbo kits and everything just kind of fell into place. I found a guy that would trade my nitrous eagle rods for some hotside headers and crossover. I then sold off all of my nitrous kit, headers, cams, headers ect.

Here is a list of what i have bought so far.....

-Headers and crossover
-GTK1000 Turbo
-Turbonetics 46mm racegate
-Tial 50mm BOV
-33x12x4 intercooler
-cold piping and all clamps
-oil lines
-Turbo cam
-317 ported heads
-arp 12pt head studs
-75lb injectors
-boost referenced meth kit
-eboost 2 controller
-fuel system 2 bosch 004 pumps, 1 hobbs activated, -10 feed, aeromotive boost referenced regulator.

Well i started fabbing everything up this past weekend, i got the headers on and turbo positioned, i had to clearence the fenderwell slightly. I then tore down the motor to the shortblock, pulled the cam and everything. I then welded up a bumper support and mounted the intercooler. I will get more done this weekend but here are some pics for now...

Should scoot that's for sure. Only advice I would have, and you probably already know this, is go braided for any lines or vacuum lines near the turbo... that stuff can easily melt. I melted my BOV vacuum line the last time I was at the track.

Damn bro, that looks so badass. I'm jealous. I remember just seeing it a few weeks ago when you still had it all together. Good luck with everything. I can't wait to see it when it's done.
