Yeah I drove the Cobra to florida raced it at several different tracks and on the street then drove it home averaging 21 mpg on the interstate.
JUICED96Z I am looking forward to some pulls come spring, I am sure you will get me but it should be fun to see how close a 346 cu in motor with stock shortblock and heads can come.

There are a few LS cars around that would give me a really good race if not win, pretty sure nne of them post on here.
At one time there was a nasty N2O 408 T/A...
Was reading engine builders mag last night and they had a 496 they built with a scat steel crank, I beam rods, SRP pistons) RHS aluminum heads, dual plane edelbrock intake , 850 deamon carb. Made 571hp at 3100RPM and like 628 at 6,XXXRPM! All motor engine and pump gas. Headers were way to big if you ask me, 2.XX primaries on a 496!!!.
Can't wait to get some aftermarket heads on my car or at least get these ported.

big blocks have their place. but if you have car that you drive more than once a week you just cant do it without fuel injection.. thats why the LSx motor wins for all around. there is no question that a big block chevy puts out tons more hp. and really for not much more than an LSx. but the drivablity, gas economy and the ease of working on it just dosent compare to an injected LSx..

Was talking to a guy at work that has a HEMI big block in his race car and we pretty much agreed on all those points. For a daily driver I could not afford to drive my car or any BBC car and can't see how these guys in BBC suburbans or the 2500 trucks with the gasser engines can afford the gas!
We both liked the turbo LSX build in GMHTP that Tom Kemph I think it was had built that made 1,XXX HP.
BBC's are not that hard to work on if its in the right car, no way would I want one in a 4th get unless I had some fun with a cut off wheel!!!!!!!
Even the TBI 454's don't get that great of MPG.
Once I get my car dyno tuned I am sure I will get some better MPG.
Yeah, its not even dyno tuned hahaha.

James, did your car take a leak? HAHAHA
For those that don't know allready I pulled the plugs today and go hear to see what I found.

In short I was screaming with what I thought was a BBC firing on all 8 plugs, come to find out number 5 was not firing at all and has not been for a few months (since before I got it)......

No, man, his blinker fluid leaked out.
Hey, James, I've just been working and lurking. Not much to say lately, just waiting for some things to finish up.
I'm hoping to start back on the car next weekend, if things work out right.
I ordered some valve springs and valves last month, but nothing has shown up on the doorstep yet. Not sure what is going on there, I need to make some phone calls. Gotta get this Bird back on the road for the spring; a better V-6 is in the cards.
I am really swamped at work right now. I'm supposed to go on a road trip to Minnesota on the 25th, and we are scrambling to get things in order before we leave. I am also training my boss so he can keep his job, and that just adds to the pressure. He's a great guy, but is pretty clueless on how to get organized and be able to show his peers and upper management that he can do the job. And I don't want his job; been there, done that, have the t-shirt.
Ciao.

Anyone make it out today? Got the car out tonight since there was no snow or salt on the roads. Motor definitely likes the cold air. If we can make it a night without too much snow I might have to drive to work tommorrow.
