sorry man that sucks, i dont know much about trannies yet but id take the oppurtunity to put a built one in though if mine broke...
My last combo had a 400 with 4.10's and I loved it and it was well under 1,000hp.
It all depends on what you want, if you don't plan on more then like a 10 sec car ever then get a 350, if you might want to go faster one day then get a 400 and have it built to handle that from the get go and be done with it.
But, what do I know about it I have only been talking with tons of tranny shops FLT, FCI, TCI, Rossler and I am sure I missed one or two about a tranny for my car.
FWIW its going to be a TH350 with a nice stall. You going to be ready to grab a lane come spring?
Do you ever actually research what you say or do you just spew out the first thing someone at a car show once said? The TH400 takes more power, weights more and dosn't fit in a F-body as easily, but you wouldn't know that because you bought your car and didn't build it. Do some searchs some of the fastest LS1's in the country alot of them get down with a TH350. The key is replacing the sprag with the upgraded unit.

I talked to Carl also and guess what he said.... 400! and that was with more then one street car.
I said in my last post that if you are looking for a 10 sec car then get a 350. If you want something faster one day then go with a 400 and be done with it but a 400 is not for everyone. If the 350 was so great with big power then everyone would run it.
A 350 may be the best bet for you car, its not for everyone. Ive seen to many people go 350 and end up having to go 400 down the road. Oh and Rosslers 210 is in the 6's with a bunch of cars, guess what it starts its life as? a 400..... oh wait we are talking street cars........... with good MPG.
The 400 take almost no effot to get in 82-02 car. I did not even notice it till a few weeks ago, you massage the tunnel a hair and thats it, if you really took your time you would never notice it. BIG DEAL! I said most people think its A LOT, not a little more when its not and most BUILT 400's weight less then a stock 400.
Last I checked the fastest LS1 cars were glides/400/210's. NOT 350....
Wait a minute, you tell me to keep my mouth shut about my car yet you open your mouth about yours?
No I will not be out with either car this year.
If you want a 350 go for it, I simply said they don't eat as much power and weigh as much as most people think and if you are looking at faster then 10's then I would get a 400 and be done with it JMHO, not sure whats so wrong with that.
P.S. as far as I can tell you don't have as many gear options in the 350... and I don't go to many cars shows
and lastly you replace the sprag on the 400 when you build it also
