For one i dont want to mess with the wiring harness. Two a performabuilt th400 built to handle 1000+hp is $1300 extremely cheap and a custom built stall for it is $700. I will have stock gears yet so the 3 speed will be just fine with a 26" tall tire. The th400 is nothing electronic so i dont need to change pcms, harness any of that and ill have a transbrake as well, just all around a better deal it seems to me.

from what i understand a stock 4l80E stock is strong as a built 4l60E.... put in some new clutches and call it a day.... if your car is mostly street driven
if your car is a dedicated race car and track times are all that matters.... then i would go with the TH400
Both would be cheap to do just depends on your goals.

thats what ive understood as well, but once again i do not want to have to mess with the harness and pcm in the car. It's so much easier to just go th400 keep the same harness do a little splicing to get my speedo to work and call it good. It's not a daily driven car obviously and when it gets done all i really care about are some good track times.

I decided on the 5.3 because its cheap..... but mostly because the stock shortblock has proven itself over and over agian to handle alot of boost very well making 550HP-700HP for long periods of time.... the 5.7 and 6.0 not so much.
Besides if i blow the 5.3 im only out $425, lol.

pacesetter ($370 with y pipe) is the best bang for the buck! But if money isn't a big concern go with Kooks ($900 for just headers).
Sure you will get other opinions, though.
