Luke,
Did you change anything but the input shaft? I'm assuming you have a new bearing pressed onto the new shaft?
I really doubt the endplay will be far enough out with just that change to merit doing anything but the same shim stack you had on the shaft before; we can check though. I don't have a dial indicator though, I borrowed one, as I wanted a good one.

I heard second hand that the transmission broke. sounds like its in 2 gears at once.
Blake, Still waiting on money for parts. I might need your help setting up the input shaft on the t-56. If you have a dial indicator, i will need it to set end play up on input shaft. ford uses a 10 spline shaft on all stock transmissions. I am switching over to a 26 spline input. When i had the tranny built, i had the option to get a 26 or 10 spline. I opted for a 10 spline since i had just installed a clutch in the car and didnt want to have to pony up for another new clutch.. Oh well.
I wont have the car running for at least a month. Its that time a year when money is a little tight. I'm sure all you guys understand that.

The input shafts already come with the bearing pressed on by liberty. The newer models also are direct from tremec whereas the older models were chevy t56 input shafts modified by Liberty to work in the ford t56 transmission.

You will 95% of the time reuse your existing spacer. When I put the 26 spline in I reused my existing spacer and when I checked the end play it was perfect. I bought the extra shim kit and didnt even use a shim out of it. Biggest waste of money. You should definitely measure to be safe and remember you measure the play from the output shaft when the transmission is preloaded. Do you have a T56 service manual from tremec?

The input shaft doesn't actually directly connect to the rest of the mainshafts, it's seperated a bearing so that it can spin somewhat freely. That's also what makes it so easy to replace.
