Little better video. I need to get some from a better angle, it's tough to judge speed/acceleration from the "over the door" view.

Selling my 2004r + converter + shifter + LS1 TV kit out of my car.

2nd gear is soft, I would replace the clutch packs in it. Asking $1250 for the whole deal. It is an FTI 3600 RPM billet lockup converter, TV Made EZ kit, B&M Ratchet Shifter and the tranny was built by DelTrans. Have Dave Norris in town throw some new clutches in it and you've got a 550+ RWHP capable tranny for a great price.

I am also looking for a good Powerglide and converter. Needs to be able to handle ~800 RWHP/TQ.

Do you have a dyno sheet for your car blake? Glides are great but they need a few things to work.

Converter choice is number 1, with a 3 speed trans, the wrong converter can be crutched by the massive gear reduction in 1st gear and still be able to launch ok.

They need lots of power off the line to get a good 60ft. And in turn need the suspension and rear end to handle that power. I had my old 3speed running 1.39 60fts on motor the beginning of last year, but with the glide its best N/A 60ft was 1.65 or 1.69. Part of the poor 60ft was the tight converter but still that motor was no slouch on N/A. They just require alot of power off the brake to 60ft, imo.

A good test would be too launch your car from a dead stop in 2nd gear, if it pulls hard then maybe it would work. Another thing to do is drive your car around and only use 2nd starting from stoplights and 3rd for cruising. This will at least give you an idea of how it would drive around.

Some people think glides dont belong on a streetcar but I'm not one of those people, I think they drive around fine, is streetdriving as nice as it would be with a 4speed overdrive trans, no, but its something you get used too, like a big cam or loud exhaust.

They are a hell of alot lighter and smaller and the top end pull is nice due to the efficiency of the unit. Im not saying your car doesnt have the sack to run it but just giving you some things to think about.

Chris,

2 things.

1. I can't go test in 2nd gear, that's the only gear in my transmission that is NOT happy, haha. A week ago, sure.

2. I would expect I'm somewhere around 650 RWHP at least, on 12-13 psi right now. It could be a little more or a little less, but at worst case I'd say 625 at the wheels. I'm going to do the 8.8 at the same time, so I should have a lot more hook capability when the tranny goes in.

That said... I really trust your opinion on this since you're out running around with a glide on the street. I need to hit up my friend Zac also, since he has an RX7 with an almost identical engine, turbo and rear end with a glide in it right now.

I just want to put something in that WORKS and will handle my power level well. I'm find with a TH350 or glide, but everyone I talk to says turbos love a glide.

I figured the 1-2 shift was slipping or engaging slowly and that once it was locked it was ok. My bad.

I would be willing to bet just about everything i own that your combo with a glide would mph better than any 3 or 4 speed but it may not be enough to overcome a slow 60 (if it does 60 bad)

How many lbs can u build on the brake? If you can build 7 or more and plan on running 16 psi down the track and want to take it to the track often then id say a glide may be a good option. But if you want more of a car to drive on the streets then id prob go with a 3 speed

With any luck my pile will be back on the road soon and ill give you a ride and you can get a better idea of how they drive around

Jared,

I am going to solid axle. I will have the rear ready to come out this weekend (gotta drop it to drop the tranny).

It's customized for a second gen RX7 though (narrowed, custom stub shafts, etc), so unless you want it for that, it's probably not very good value for you.

Sent my TC to Precision today. Last summer I had them freshen it and tighten the flash. It was flashing 4900 on motor and I knew it'd be flashing way over 5000 on the bottle. Told them to tighten it 400-500. Finally data-logged the car and now I know why it sucked so bad at launch. Only flashing 3400 on motor. Talked to Steve @ PI today and he said getting 4400 on motor and 4900 on a 200 shot is pretty realistic, so I'm optimistic it'll be much more fun (and faster) once it's back together. Should have TC back by mid-next week.

Where can I get emissions testing done here in town? I've got a potential buyer for the TBSS from Denver and he needs it to be sure it's compliant.

I highly doubt anyone there in the area can do it, just because it's not required there. They won't have the equipment for something like that if it's not required by the state. Plus, every state has different requirements so even if it would 'pass' in Indiana, it may not pass in Denver because of potential different standards.
