anyone know if you need a rear view mirror in illinois?
ok i have a lexan windshield and i was wondering if you needed a rearview mirror in you car to be legal? i looked at the ill dot. and they did not have a clear answer in the rules.
figured there might be someone here that would know.

I've never heard anything specific about it but I'm sure if you get a cop that wants to be a dick he can find some reason to give you a ticket for it. If you dont want one I would say f*&% it and see what happens.

I know my drivers license says I have a restriction that all vehicles I drive must have side mirrors. As for rear mirror there must be something wierd if you can drive without side mirrors. just going on the fact that there is a eye restriction on my dl.

(625 ILCS 5/12‑502) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12‑502)
Sec. 12‑502. Mirrors. Every motor vehicle, operated singly or when towing another vehicle, shall be equipped with a mirror so located as to reflect to the driver a view of the highway for a distance of at least 200 feet to the rear of such motor vehicle.
