I use USAA and have had no problems. I pay $160/month for full coverage. I'm 21, clean driving record.

USAA is also a ranked based club. I love them now as an E-6 but I remember when I was still an E-4 they were not the cheapest out there for me. I put on E-5 the next month and nothing else changed and they were about $50 a month less, making them the cheapest around for the same or better coverage. So as an NCO or Officer then I would say go with the USAA. I have full coverage on 2 cars (2006 and 2008) w/$250 deductibles and my renters insurance with them and pay a whopping $120 a month.

I've had both USAA and Progressive in the past. Most recently i was with USAA until my rates went up almost $200 for no reason on my last renewal. I switched back to Progressive and am getting MUCH more coverage for a little bit less money. As far as customer service goes i've never had a problem with either company.

State Farm has been great for me, claims were quite headache-free. Tried quotes thru USAA, for an old pickup and my TA it would have cost me $596 more per year. Additionally, State Farm was $1530 per year cheaper than USAA for me on an R1. I realize some companies don't want your business but damn.

What?? I doubt it has anyting to do with rank, it has to do with age just like any insurance company. My rates were low as an E3 and didnt change as I went up the ranks. It did change according to my age/location/marital status/driving record though.

Considering most lower enlisted people are young it would make sense that their insurance is more expensive.

I was getting raked over the coals for years by Nationwide, and finally made the jump to USAA.

+1 on the USAA

Maybe so but in my situation nothing changed except my rank, same age, still married, no accidents or tickets.

Keep in mind price is not the only factor in car insurance. You need to keep service in mind because although some companies are cheap they will jack you around when it comes to claims. I have made 2 claims with USAA and they were very easy to deal with and got the claim done quickly. We got rear ended in my wifes car and I didnt even have to get an estimate, they checked it and cut me a check. Then my friend ran my camaro into a pole on post and they quickly paid it out and didnt even raise my rate.
