Default Army Regulation

Just wondering if anyone knows why it is mandatory for no sunglasses in a deployed location during the morning hours in PT gear? I understand it is an Army regulation but didn't know if it was a world wide thing or just a localized base reg. If anyone knows the answer for this I would be greatly appreciative!

The only regulation i know of is that you cant wear eye pro in the states in formation. I have never heard of not wearing eye pro anywhere overseas. You might have a bunch of weirdos wearing there dark lenses that's why. If that's the case it should be stated that you need to wear the clear lenses during the morning hours.

Most of what both of you have mentioned is preference in Commands. Basically the catch all in AR 670-1 is if it doesn't specifically state it, it's not authorized. It just goes to the old saying who ever has the most gold makes the rules.

Yea, it should all fall under 670-1. ALSO, you command can ALWAYS add to, but not take away from.

Never heard anything that convoluted. When deployed eye pro was approved at all times, including formations and PT when we actually conducted organized PT. Stateside was a different story though, had to be on the approved list and 670-1 compliant.

Probably a local policy by whatever commander is around. That is the one of the stupid rules that a bored cdr came up with. " Hey we are in Iraq where its over 100 daily and the sun is blazing but we arent going to wear something to protect our eyes"

Default Stupid

Well, word is the whole reasoning behind it is because of unauthorized consumption of alcohol. I suppose they want to be able to see "in someones eyes" if they have been drinking or are drunk. Sounds kind of stupid to me but whatever. Either way its definately above my pay grade! Thanks for the replies!

Dumbest reason I've ever heard right there. Then again, its just as bad as "your PT shirt must be tucked in at all times" rule that USCENTAF has
