i'm about to join the airforce after the holidays and i know some advice. When you sign up if you sign a 6 year contract you can be an E-2 instead of an E-1( better pay). Did you take the aptitude test ? what are some of the new wanted jobs that they told you outright you could get for a bonus yearly pay ?

Well flight engineer is a great job depending what aircraft... i wouldn't reccomend ammo or anything unless you like dealing with bombs etc. i would reccomend aerial gunner or TACP etc... but you sound like you want a job that gives a lot of family/off time. Go just about anything medical its almost like a regular job most the time. problem is finding a recruiter that will help you secure a slot.

Yeah he tried to tell me they didn't have any medical jobs probably cause he needs to fill the mechanical jobs, I'm going also look at Air Traffic Controller although there might be an age limit for that. After being in the Army for 6yrs and being a Tanker I need something to keep me busy. During terminal leave from the Army I was so bored I would go take the Camaro apart just to put it back together.

hey brother i was stationed in ft hood also who were you with 4ID or 1st cav? anywho sucks you just got out and didn't ask before you could have got a 20k bonus for signing up with the air force reserves, depending on the job, flight engineer is a good job, r u trying to go active again, i'd say kc-10 flight engineer as it's an awesome aircraft that gets to fly everywhere, i'm currently a crewchief for the kc-10 on the reserve side, i think the only places you can be stationed r cali, or nj, i was 4ID, if you have any questions feel free to pm me good choice on branch i haven't regretted it yet outstanding morale

If you want a nice, cushy, well paid job, be a Flight Engineer. Don't, however, be one on a tanker unless you enjoy deploying often (like twice a year). If you can get ACC heavies, that is your best bet. I am on AWACS and its cushy!

Air Force
I'm in the Air Force and I've been in for 13 years. I've loved every bit of it. I'm in the medical field as a Radiologic Technologist. Basically, I shoot x-rays and do CT scans (CAT Scans), etc. I'm one of the few in my section that has been in the medical field from the get-go. A bunch of the people I work with were prior flight line, crew chiefs, ammo, weapons, and one security forces guy. Although I love what I do, I'm looking at maybe shifting gears here shortly (no pun intended) and applying for first sergeant school. I know that there will be many times where I'm expected to really "lay down the law", so to speak, but I really look forward to just helping people out.
