I was at Ft.Richardson in 99 and I wanted to buy a 30th annv. but it was winter and my team leader said when the hell can you drive that thing the 3 months of summer. So I know how bad it sucks.

Elmendorf isnt that bad They have a slightly diff weather then us here in Washington state. it stays dark for 3 months out of the year & stays light for 3 months of the year. it starts snowing about Halloween & melts about may so you can drive your car June - Oct.

It's not that bad up there. Check out www.Alaskamotorsports.com Board a bunch of us then locals put together several years ago which has become pretty popular. Yes, you won't be able to drive your car year round, but you will be rewarded with one of the most beautiful drag strips in the country, and the ability to make dozens of passes each trip to the track.

I was stationed there last year. Just some info it is not dark for 3 months straight. The sun comes up at about 10 to 1030 and goes down at about 330 to 4. That is the shortist day you will have. as far as the light for 3 months it is light out but not like the midle of the day. it will be like early morning right when the sun comes up at about 3 in the morning, that will be the darkest for about 2 months. And you will love it if you get out and enjoy the area. and you will love the great alaskan bush company!
