As far as I know, it is nothing visible while in your charlies, and nothing gang or racist or drug related. Well the visible in charlies thing might be more for msg. I dont think you will have a problem if you follow those rules though.
I know a lot of guys in my old unit are still getting all sorts of tattos on their forearms and no one is saying anything. As long as it is in good taste, there shouldnt be a problem.

yes, not to be seen in the Alpha uniform. however, we (Marines) do not fall under Navy regs. Navy can have tattoos on their hands and neck (had a corpsman with them) But as of right now, they are trying to change the regs. Those of us with sleeves/tattoos will be grandfathered in. There was an article in the Marine Times saying that you may not be able to re-enlist if you keep getting tattoo'd, or they are trying to put that into effect. I truly think its BS though. Does not haveing tattoos make you a better Marine???? Or is your work performance effected by you haveing sleeves?????? IMO as long as its not racist, disruptive to good order and dicipline, or offensive, and you look good in uniform then who cares??????

You know, that seems to be the opinion of every Marine I have ever spoken to, and my own opinion as well. The officers writing the policy are the only ones who think otherwise. Why on earth don't we have more SNCO's writing policy? The Corps might start to make sense sometimes if that happened.

Sometimes I cant stand the fact that some ******* in an office somewhere writes a policy, or new order and is no where near the fleet Marine Corps. Just doesnt make any sense to me.......but then again, wtf do I know.....I have only been on active duty for 14 years

I've heard after October you are no longer allowed to have anything on your arms that can be seen in your charlies. On our yearly checkup they will supposedly document what tats you have now and if you get anymore they can NJP you.

I thought it changed to, "Tattoos can not be seen while in PT uniform".... That's what I last understood from HeadQuarters in Pendleton. That was last year around July when I heard that. Doesn't say that in the order though last I checked.

I've got two on my forearms and two down the back of my forearms I'm working on finishing my degree and going back in as an O but I'm afraid the tats may interfer. I had two of them while I was in the other two have come since I got out. Anyone know if this could be a problem?
