Default Square me away on a bonus question

i entered the army September 21,2006 with an enlistment bonus of $35,000. once i arrived to my duty station (i think july 2,2007 or around that time) i instantly put in for my bonus and received it on july 20th for the amount of 7500(2500 was shaved off due to taxes)... now my former understanding was that I would receive my 2nd half on a year anniversary of my enlistment. Does this mean i can go ahead and put in my forms for my 2nd payment or do I have to wait a full year after i received the first payment? my retention NCO informed me that this was possible and i got real excited about the idea of a 418ci

from what i was told its spred out over your contract, so you got the 7500. and since its been a year you may only get another 7500.

you won't get it untill the year anniversery of you first payment you don't have to put in any paper work it will be deposited around the same time that the first one was, you will get what every is left out of your bonus divided by the number of years you have let so for example if got 35K - the 7.5K you already got and say you enlisted for 6 years you will get 5500 minus taxes on each instalment. hope that helps.

I believe the bonuses work the same DOD-wide.

My last re-enlistment I signed up for an extra 6 years and got $31k. I did this in the desert (tax free) so when I got home I received $15,500 in one chunk. After that, the rest was divided up annually, and each of those fell back on where I re-enlisted so all of the annual checks were tax-free as well.

well i know that in the army if you reup in iraq you get it all up front in one lump sum i got 12 for 3 years and i got it with in 3 weeks of my reup and it was on lump sum payment but if you get when you are not deployed then you get a payment up from then the rest is devided out over the term of your enlistment.

You don't have to do any paperwork to get the next portion of your bonus. It will hit in the same month as your anniversary. Just wait it out.
