We are supposed to have them to get onto the NAS ATL part of the base here in Marietta, but I just come through the AF gates when I drive my Firehawk in. I don't plan on ever getting a decal for that car. Thanks Dobbins AFB/ARB!

I got out of a ticket a few weeks back, thanks to the decal. Cop saw my faded sticker NAS JAX stuck on the car, then saw the number from the track on my rear hatch. Guy went, you military? I was. Take it to the track? Yes sir.

It's sure beats trying to slyly show them your mil ID without looking like an ***!

Truthfully I whip out the ID anytime Im pulled over even though I had the decal and a Combat Medic sticker on the back window. Then it usually turns into a conversation of what unit you in, where did you deploy to, how many times and by the end they forget that they pulled you over.

I agree, the ONLY reason I have to do a smog check on my Wisconsin registered car here in San Diego is for that damn base decal. It's about to expire too, time to blow $50 on a smog check that isn't even required by Wisconsin DMV

Yeah same deal here...my cars are registered in Texas. My GNs and Z28s base decals are gonna expire in August. I think I'll just keep getting a base pass...correct me if I'm wrong but I think they expire like every 3 months. That's what my buddy does because he doesn't wanna put a decal on his M3.

I was at Travis AFB a few weeks ago and they still require you to have tags, if not they send you to the visitors center.

I would of told them to STFU and read the directive that was put down in 2006 for christs sake. The AF has been rid of those things forever now.

I just transferred from an AMC base to an ACC base last March and was informed they were no longer required. They were still required at the AMC base I came from.

I'm stationed at Travis, and I'm still required to have a base sticker. On top of that your car must pass smog to get the sticker, even out of state cars.

Wow that's gay. Guess the base doesn't want polluters around heh? Glad I'm not stationed there.

Hopefully the Navy/Marine Corps will follow suit. Oh well. I'm out this year anyway. I always put it down by my cowl so you have to actually look for it.

I work at Randolph and we haven't needed them for quite a while but you have to show the ID they issue (which has encoded stuff on it) anytime you enter the base.
