FCCS

All cars are different and with a restrictive exhast a performance can be seen.
However on a few cars we dynoed (a few turbo cars) we lost tq. and 1/4 speed.
Also be carefull where you put them as to close to the O2's can let air to rush back in when the gas is let off. O2's get a bad reading. I have ran a car with exhaust just dumped 13" off the turbo and then with the Y and a dump. No real change.

A gain with a restrictive exhaust I can see. This has been taked about in the another forum about exhaust size anf flow numbers.

I understand I will get alot of heat for this but it is true. Just hate to see people go wrong. If you disagree no big deal. Rock it out. This is just the internet. Enjoy

I would LOVE to have a cut out that opens/closes in .3 seconds vs 3 seconds. ESPECIALLY with that TPS hook up. Ive kinda wanted to rig something up so that my cut out goes to wide open during a WOT run. Just one less thing to worry about when I decide to romp on it.

I open and close mine a crap load. haha.

If I am reading this correctly ( I am really tired), I would have to disagree with this. I have LT's, ORY, and Aftermarket exaust and cutout. I am losing 27rwtq and 39rwhp through that crappy exaust over the open cutout. Then even through the magnaflow it was still a 14rwhp gain with the Cutout open.

ok what about on a lowered car? the cutout looks like it would be very close to the ground. i have slp headers on my car as well as being lowered and it looks like it would be a very tight fit.

badazzt/a If you can get around lowered with SLP headers a cutout will be a piece of cake. Best place for yours would be in the I-pipe right before the rearend, but since you have a LM that won't work. BTW welcome to the board i'm just down the road in B.G.

The cutout won't be a problem.

Also, how the hell are you lowering a car with SLP LT's. I want to see pics!

lts, ory, cutout, magnaflow here. gained about 16rwhp and 10rwtq with the cutout open. on a mustang dyno. mine is in the i-pipe right before the over axle. i love it. pretty quiet with the magnaflow, but then open it up and damn! i have the QTP one, but havent had any problems with it...yet :knock on wood: i open and close it all the damn time. it confuses people haha.

I gotta agree, on the Dyno I opened the cutout and saw about 2hp gain and a few lbs lost, closed it and it was about the same. ET wise at the track, I run the same with it open or closed and this was before I threw on the GMMG. I had a Flowmaster before.

When was cam only i had dual cut outs on my Y-pipe with a Flowmaster cat back. The car dynoed 390 hp closed and 414 with them open. I'm sure the gains would have been a lot less with a better cat back though

it's close as hell man i will tell u that im talking a 1/4 of an inch or so from the ground, on the passenger side it's better on the driver side. i'll see if i can find a pic i know that the high flow cat on it was almost crushed in when i took the motor out to do a rebuild.
