^^^ LOL. This thread is pretty rediculous.
SS got walked, and it was only getting worse.
GT500 is the better car, hands down. Spend $7k and you'll be in the 7XXrwhp range. Reliable as can be, with a solid axle to boot. And raping 95% of the cars on the street.

Another one of those situations where the pot and kettle comment just doesn't even hint at the magnitude of irony that your comment is doing the backstroke in.

Bottom line - GT500 should be alot faster than what it is. 540hp and $50k should definitely get a driver more than 12.8 in the quarter. Arguing potential until you're blue in the face doesn't change that fact. Calling everyone else 13 years old doesn't either.
Hell the 200lb heavier STS-V will run that with 70hp less...and an auto.

so it looks like it was more likely 2 tenths, which if you could hook the gt500 up would be more like 3 or 4 i bet. we're just on the other side of the other race, GT VS SS. so what? 1 win, 1 loss.
but since when does ls1tech care about ******* magazine articles?! for the entire time ive been on here, and presumably since its inception, we have all usually said "dont believe the magazines." so why start caring now? because an LSX car lost? THERE'S ALWAYS SOMEONE FASTER. in this case, its a Ford. who cares. we should all be happy we can still have muscle car talks, considering whats looming in the (not so distant) future. weve already seen a blown camaro go faster than the shelby, so in the end, its all relative. we know the ZR1 would beat all of these, so it never ends. again, THERE'S ALWAYS SOMEONE FASTER.

I would like the GT500 if they actually but some real tires on the thing, but its definitely not where it should be. Did you see the wheelhop on that thing!?

All that doesn't change the point. When you get into modding, all bets are off. There's no fair way to compare modded vehicles that will yield any useful information. That's why we look at STOCK cars. The state of car that 90% of the American public drives. We always get the "potential" argument with F.I. cars that underperform from the factory. That's as much a ricer excuse as anything. Bottom line is the GT500 is a dissapointment, and so is the new Camaro to an extent. The difference is that the Camaro is a phenomenal package that simply doesn't do quite as much as it should with 400hp+. The GT500 does what the Camaro should do, only it needs 540hp to do it.

The amount of hurt feelings in this thread is amazing.
The "camaro cost xyz less so it's still a better car" comments are what I'd expect from a ricer. Of course I think both cars are overpriced, ugly, heavy and slow. For the same price as the SS you can almost get a used c6 z06.

Come on people the camaro got walked at the big end. Im not a fan of the gt500 looks but the point of the video is that a gt500 beat a 2010 camaro end of story. People arguing over cars running at stock form is funny becouse who really keeps there car stock for very long anymore.

What everyone who says only a tenth doesnt realize is that look at the mph. 5 mph is an *** whoopin. Put some radials on the GT500 and I bet it would run a half a second quicker. Not defending the mustang I am a GM guy but that was an unfair fight. Put a blower on the camaro and see what happens . I would rather buy camaro and use the rest to mod it for the price of that ford . But lets face it most people who buy the GT500 its for the name .
