Default My Build Thread.........New Engine

Update on page 2. New engine went kapoot. :Ibeatitlikeatwodollarwhoreicon:
My exhaust thread:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/multimedi...pics-vids.html

My interior thread:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...pics-come.html

Not really anything spectacular. I tried to take some pics along the way to document the progress. So I have compiled them here for fun. Enjoy. Any questions or comments, feel free.

Here's the car: 3200 stall, tr224, LTs, true duals, 3.73s, you know, that kinda stuff.

Here it is at the track

So I decided to upgrade converters to this: SS4000

In the air

After pulling the trans, I noticed I had .040 crank endplay. So the motor came out

On the stand

Thanks, my budget was super tight for this so I had to reuse as much as possible. I did get new pushrods, LS7 lifters, MLS head gaskets (replacing stock graphites), a bigger tranny cooler, replaced all the PCV hoses, and replaced most of the gaskets on the motor, and an SFI flexplate to go with the converter.

I went back with the tried and true tr224. Its a great street cam. I had the stock 241 heads milled and a valve job done at a local shop and threw them back on with GM MLS head gaskets and LS7 lifters and new Comp pushrods.

Negative, who knows really. I believe my car had a hard abused life before I got it. So it would be hard to speculate.

Hopefully that doesn't happen to your new engine. Several things can cause that, usually it's the converter or the transmission pushing forward on the crank. It wouldn't hurt to check your endplay at regular intervals for the next 1000 miles or so, just to be safe.

Its funny you mention that. This trans has acted funny ever since I got the car. It works fine but its quirky so to speak. Since putting this together it has gone into limp mode several times. It may be time for a built tranny
