Default AMS Drag Evo = Texas Mile Record

Yeah, I know this is not an Evo forum, but I think AMS has built a really cool car...

The title says it all: New 4-cylinder record at the Texas Mile... The old 4-cylinder Texas Mile record was 223 mph.

228 mph by the AMS Drag Evo

Here's the link for more pictures and the video...

Definitely. In the video, he says he saw the flames right after he pulled the chute. Imagine trying to slow the car down from 220+ mph as fast as you can safely do it, while knowing that the whole car could blow up at any minute!

I don't know what kind of record they are talking about, but I saw an EVO go faster this weekend at Maxton. Maybe it's a "Texas Mile record"?

You saw one go faster in the standing mile, or was it a top speed run like at the salt flats? Info/links?

237 this past Saturday at the Maxton Mile in NC.

Quite a bit faster than AMS!

You have any info or links about it?

*EDIT, I found this: http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-eng...d-237-mph.html

Not only is that EVO quicker, but it sounds more impressive when you read the car's specs. Crazy.

Any info on what happened?? Exactly?? Was wondering what was going on. Just saw steam and water.

I'd love to get an Evo 8 or 9 one of these days..

If you just saw steam and water, you didn't watch it long enough!

The #3 rod decided it wanted some fresh air. Oil got onto the manifold and started the fire.
Apparently the 228mph run was on lower boost and 2nd and 5th weren't exactly nailed. Too bad it got burnt up.

I've always loved Ams's evo. I've seen it over the years go through the transition from stock to serious street car to record breaker. Unbelievable car, unfortunate about the fire but hey, that's racing.
