Those choppers are pesky... They generally stick around 1000ft or more, and its pretty hard to see or hear them...especially on a sunny day depending on the angle.
My GF is the camera person for a local new station's helicopter, so Ive gotten my fair shair of rides. And the cameras can make things look a LOT closer than they actually are. And the local police chopper have even more advanced cameras. Can be a mile away and get footage that looks like it was taken from 100ft.
Sneaky sneaky...
I got nabbed by a chopper on the highway once. Speed trap, in between the signs that say "speed limit enforced by aircraft". You know..the signs that you usually laugh at and say yeah right? Sure enough, when I was on the side of the highway the officer pointed up and there was the floating spec. No sound...tiny tiny speck.... Verrrrry sneaky... haha

I dont condone street racing because I am future law enforcement... Buttttt seriously if i was in that coptor I would look around and notice there are no other civilians in the area and just sit back and look for some real crimes being commited.. hahaha

Man i wish we had fines like that here in los angeles county. $500 is about what you pay making a right turn on a red light without coming to a complete stop after they add on fees.
Friends spun his tires coming out of a parking lot. 700 in fines + 1500 impound fee for 30 days.
Probably wouldn't get your car back doing the stuff in that video.

It's not about legal or illegal and the fact that you wouldn't hurt anybody but yourself. If you wreck your car and put yourself in the hospital as a result of negligence, you hurt your insurance company and raise the rest of our rates.
I like to race too, but I keep it at the track. My track sucks, is far away, but I just don't street race. Maybe I'm just more mature than some of you guys, I dunno. But 500 bucks and tabs to lawyers is more coin that I can drop into my ride and pursue my hobby further. Basically if you need to street race and break the law to try and prove something to someone else and see who has the bigger dick, you're kind of an idiot.
I know where my car and I stand and how fast I am, I don't need to race to know.
Police helicopters routinely patrol and report to incidents just as cruisers do. They just happened to be on a patrol conducting law enforcement operations and saw you guys and you got busted. If a bank robbery happened they would have gone to it. It's a great tool for their situational awareness. It was up in the air already, might as well use it. And those FLIR cameras are the ****! Those are the same cameras that are on AH64 Apache's and now M2 Bradley's. They can spot a pimple on a gnat's *** from a mile away. It has nothing to do with taxpayers money. I guess all the street racing that goes on and fines that retards who do it end up paying more than make up for its use.
You guys actually saw the helicopter and did it anyway. That's the funny part.
It's not up to the state to provide you an outlet to drive fast either. If want a track, open one, get some guys together and rally and maybe something may be done. If you don't like where you live, move. Just don't come to where I live and street race.
