Differences from TX Mile event:
Texas Mile
440ci LS7 all motor 600rwhp (N/A)
no rear wing/spoiler, mirrors and wipers removed, stock hood, taped cowl area and heavy front taping of the bumper
3.55 gears 91 octane
approx sea level altitude and high 70 to low 80 degree temps
1.5 mile total runway (meaning 1/2 mile of shutdown which comes up fast), slight wandering of the car to the left about 6ft at 180mph+
Best speed achieved: 196.2mph October 2009
Mojave Mile event
turbo LS3, 3.08 gears, e85 fuel (single turbo setup)
Small rear spoiler/lip on the hatch mounted just about the rear taillights (Mike knows the brand)
Mirrors intact, very little tapping, no wipers, vented hood and AeroCatch hood flush hood latches
5700ft DA and 95* temps
3 mile long runway (2 mile shutdown area which is very relieving and non pressure braking zone)
smooth track with a crown in the middle overall no unwanted wandering
Recap of runs:
#1 Mark driving
9am approx 1st run, 5500ft DA, high 80*
3psi (approx 605rwhp)
blew the tires off rolling into 2nd and eased off to get back into it. Tried to warm up tires a little.
201.6mph granny shifting full on shakedown pass
Very stable at top speed so the small rear spoiler and hood definitely helped.
4th gear tops out around 170mph now
small amount of smoke when letting off throttle (beginning of rear main seal leak)
#2
Mike driving
10am 2nd run 5500ft+ DA, high 80*
4.9 psi (approx 675rwhp)
warmup pass for Mike with good shifting no real issues
blew off the tires, backed out of it, back into the boost to continue
more smoke when letting of throttle (main seal leak getting worse)
Car still very stable at the big end
207+mph
#3
Mark driving
11am 3rd run 5700ft+ DA, low 90* temps
6psi boost (approx 725rwhp)
Run seemed smooth, no shifting issues, stability good
Smoking heavily at 1/2 mile marker and at shutdown 1 mile area smoking even more
204.3mph result
*the rear main seal was basically pushed out (the lip that seals it against the crankshaft) due to excessive crankcase pressure
Leaking 1/2 quart of oil on the ground when we parked it. Done for the day and loaded it up on the trailer for safety and engine health concerns
Mike unable to make a 2nd run

You guys got some kahunas to keep running after the leak started. Oil on the tires at those speeds would not be fun....
Still a cool vid & a cool little set up. Was hoping to see what the car looked like lol..

Had to bump this back up after finding it today..... this car has come a long way since then... makes about 500rwhp more than during this time! This video it had a baby TC78 turbo and it was my 1st time driving the car ever with the turbo setup..... and went 200mph that day. Shooting for mid 8's in the spring 2019 race season!
We ended up melting a piston during one of the runs (stock ECU) which we believe was the wrong material used in it..... was not rated for the power levels we were trying to make... plus having a stock computer and major altitude swings at Mojave didn't help.... next version was LS9 longblock and Holley Dominator ECU with a Precision GTS76 Gen1 (1200hp rating) and now it has a Precision 88 (T4 also rated at around 1450hp). Car ran flawlessly for 3 years until I snapped the crankshaft showing off doing a huge burnout (1st thru 4th gear and then hooked up showing 140mph+ on the speedo letting off the throttle). Was an LS9 block, $100 stock cast LS2 crank, Compstar rods, Wiseco pistons in the bottom end. It has a K1 crank inside now.
