What racing class are you referring to specifically? Tell Jeggy that autos win races. Maybe tell Billy Glidden that. What "fastest cars in the world" happen to be autos? Just curious.
Perhaps you're talking circle track stuff? If so, I'll bow out since turning is over rated.![Grin](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif)
I can appreciate the GTR for what it is and I'm sure it's a blast to drive. I'm just not a fan of the styling.

You can call it a manual, because it is one, but not in the conventional sense that most people view the term.
But it doesn't really matter. So, eh...

The Zonda R is only available with slicks.
On top of that little factor, it can not be registered as a road vehicle in the US, Germany, or most other European countries. If a car can't be registered as road legal in the country of the track it's tested on... guess what? it's not a street legal production car time.

A clutch pedal isn't necessary these days, plus it's a pain in the leg to push in & out all the time. My G8 bangs gears like a manual trans in manual mode and has rev matched downshifts. I had a couple manual trans Camaros and it's so much easier to drive this car fast with full control of engine rpms.

The shifter controls the trans and the engine rpms. The clutch just disengages it from the motor so you can shift gears. I don't see how having a clutch is better, my car does everything yours does. You must be old because this is new technology to replace your old way of thinking.
A manual trans is better for road racing because you can downshift going into the corners to slow the car down quicker along with the brakes and you can keep the rpms up through the corners to power out of them. An automatic is better for drag racing because you can launch harder and more consistently, plus it shifts faster and at the right rpm everytime. So I have the best of both worlds since my car does both things well where as yours doesn't.
